The Kostanzas @ Horseshoe Tavern – August 6, 2013

The Kostanzas at Nu Music Nite (free entry) at the Horseshoe Tavern on Tuesday, August 6, 2014.

My first ever trip to see a show at the Horseshoe, one of Toronto’s more famous and longstanding concert venues. Bands like The Stones, The Police and The Ramones have played here in years past, but I think it mostly showcases new and up-and-coming performers, with the occasional bigger act thrown in.

The only reason I showed up to the ‘Shoe is because it was originally supposed to be a date night, but those plans fell through. I figured I’d just grab my camera and go anyway.

When I got inside, the second band on the bill was already in the middle of their set. Four guys from Kingston, Ontario. The drummer was the lead singer, but most of them sang. Not bad. Didn’t take any pics, though. Was still a bit nervous to whip out my camera. They were called Mountain City. The next band was called Wild Cub, from Nashville, Tennessee. Very 80’s sounding. A good-sized crowd. They even did an encore. I took some pics, but I didn’t get too close to the stage. Hard to get any good ones. Too dark. The crowd thinned out right after that. Finally, The Kostanzas came on, and I gathered my courage and did my best to get some shots. After their set, I got the hell out of there and went home to see what I had. Here’s my favourite pics from the gig.
