This past weekend, I hopped on a bus and travelled to Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello, Quebec (aka in the middle of nowhere), to shoot my first ever out-of-province music festival. I was on assignment for A Music Blog, Yea? I arrived on the 18th and got caught in a torrential downpour before I could even set up my tent. Spent a miserable night shivering and trying to fall asleep in wet clothes. Luckily, the next few days were full of sunshine.
The first full day of the festival was on Friday the 19th. I was horrified to find out that my media pass did not grant me access to the photo pit. Had I known that, I probably wouldn’t have accepted the assignment. Anyway, that meant I had to shoot from the crowd, which wasn’t always easy. I got jostled violently quite a few times and didn’t always have the best angle or position. Still, in the end, I got the shots I needed to get.
Overall, it was a memorable weekend and an experience I won’t soon forget. I shot about a dozen bands on each of the two days. Here’s a sampling below of Day One. You can see the full set of pictures right here.
