GoldLink, Gravez, McCallaman @ The Velvet Underground – March 12, 2016

The Velvet Underground had been closed down for a short while. Then someone bought it and did some renovations. Now, it’s open again! Having never officially photographed a show there, I made a specific effort to do so. The first available gig I could snag was GoldLink, with Gravez, and McCallaman, on March 12. The lighting system is definitely much better than it was before. Too bad that they kept the two openers in virtual darkness for much of their respective sets. They did a bit better when GoldLink himself came on. I got to the show a touch late, so I wasn’t able to get a spot at the front of the stage. Luckily, the side stage area was restricted to the non-general public, so I was able to shoot from there in a relatively unencumbered fashion. I shot this on assignment for A Music Blog, Yea?

Wavves, Twin Peaks, and Steep Leans @ The Opera House – September 27, 2015

I photographed Wavves, Twin Peaks, and Steep Leans at The Opera House on Sunday, September 27. I was near the front of the stage when Wavves started their set. That’s when all hell broke loose and bodies started going up. Someone landed on me and knocked my glasses off. It was a miracle that I somehow grabbed them before they tumbled onto the floor, where they surely would have been destroyed. After that, I just wanted to escape the madness. “Get the $&@! outta my way!!” I yelled, as I plowed through a throng of teenagers. Shot on assignment for A Music Blog, Yea?
